Folks For Good Housing

Who?
Folks for Good Housing is focused on finding solutions to the Housing Crisis currently impacting the Winston-Salem and Forsyth County community. Folks for Good Housing is an ad hoc, grassroots group of community leaders and citizens from the nonprofit, real estate, education, healthcare, and business, civic and faith community sectors. The group formed in 2020 and is open to everyone who shares a passion for our community and sense of urgency regarding solutions to the Housing Crisis we are facing in our city and county.

What?
Housing 101 is a series of six, topic-focused events designed to unpack the many layers and challenges of the housing crisis. In each session, local panelists will share information and invite conversation from the community on issues ranging from the urgent needs in market-rate rental and workforce housing, the lack of affordable housing for low-income citizens, housing challenges for special populations, to the obstacles facing first-time homebuyers.

Why?
Folks for Good Housing hopes to engage our community in conversation around this critical issue to inspire interest and action that will help us create lasting change.

When and where?
Session 2, “What happened to Workforce and Missing Middle Housing?” of the Housing 101 series was held on Thursday, September 15th at the Winston Salem Central Library. We had 60 or so new folks joining our first discussion and we are looking forward to this second session.
